Celebrating Delaware Artists: DWS and DBH

Delaware By Hand Masterworks

Every three years, the Biggs Museum hosts a juried competition of its Delaware By Hand artist membership in order to select individual artists that are deemed masters of their craft. Exhibited works will include a wide range of artistic mediums. Selected exhibition artists include:

To celebrate the DBH Masterworks Competition and Exhibition, a variety of Delaware By Hand artist members of the Biggs Museum will be on hand to sell their wares. A great opportunity to support local artists and get a jump on your holiday shopping!

Delaware By Hand Exhibition: Juror Lecture with Leslie Mounaime

Cost: Free with admission

Join Delaware By Hand Juried Exhibition Juror and Target Gallery Director at Torpedo Factory Art Center, Leslie Mounaime, as she discusses her jurying process for the exhibition and her involvement with contemporary art exhibits at her institution. Pre-registration is recommended.

Delaware Watercolor Society

In partnership with the Delaware Watercolor Society (DWS), the Biggs Museum will exhibit watercolor paintings by this group’s best and brightest in a juried competition. Over fifty works will be featured, many will be for sale. The DWS aims to promote and encourage mutually shared interests in watercolor media among its members and the public.

Creating Watercolor Landscapes with Michael Robear

Cost: $25/$20 for members

Watercolor Artist Michael Robear will lead participants in a day long exploration of the watercolor landscape tradition. Pre-registration is required.

Calligraphy and Watercolor Workshop with Riva Brown: Holiday Cards

Date: Sunday, November 19, 2017
Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Cost: $35/$30 for members, cost includes calligraphy and watercolor supplies

Artist and calligrapher Riva Brown will host a holiday card making workshop. Beginners will get the chance to learn basic calligraphy and watercolor techniques and use them
to produce a holiday card. Registration fee includes calligraphy supplies that can be taken home. Pre-registration is required.
