Summer ArtVentures Camps

Registration is open for the 2020 Season

School’s out, creativity is in! Keep inspiring and learning all summer long at the Biggs ArtVenture Camps, with topics like science, illustration, nature, and more designed especially for students 6 to 13 years old. Aspiring artists and innovators can spend a week exploring the Biggs Museum, learning art techniques, and encouraging creativity. Each full-day camp is led by specially-trained museum staff.

  • Members – $250; Non-Members – $300 per session
  • Camp hours: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Extended care: 8:45 PM – 4:00 PM (included with tuition)

Explorer   (Ages 6-9)

June 22 – 26: Grab your sketchbook as campers explore the wilderness through the Biggs’ collection! Campers will travel across the United States learning about how we engage with nature, while creating their own landscapes, prints, and sculptures.

 

 

 

 

 

Mini Masters      (Ages 6-9)

June 29 – July 3: Learn the techniques that made artists like Picasso, Michelangelo, Van Gough house-hold names while exploring the Biggs collection and inspiring personal mini master’s work.  Campers will learn different techniques and media as they create their own masterpieces and design an exhibition of their art.

 

 

 

 

Science of Art    (Ages 10-13)

July 6 – 10: What color is that apple really? How do cameras work? How have technological advancements altered the art world? Don your lab coat and goggles in this STEAM camp to find out all these answers and more while exploring the scientific side of art. Campers will learn about different scientific processes ranging from the chemistry of painting through the engineering of film.

 

 

Illustration       (Ages  10-13)

July 13 – 17: Explore Biggs’ collection of narrative and illustrative art including works by artists such as Schoonover, Lambdin, and Nicholson. Learn dynamic figure drawing techniques as well as how symbolism and color are used to help tell stories. Campers will practice different illustrative techniques and put their skills to the test to create a series of story board illustrations for their own pretend production.

 

 

 

 

 

Parents with registered children can fill out their camper packet here: Summer 2020 ArtVenture Camper Packet and Waivers. Forms must be completed and submitted on or before the first day of the session.
