Event: First Friday: Glass Transformed Opening Reception
Date: Friday, September 7
Time: 5 – 7 p.m.
Price: Free, All Ages
Description: Glass Transformed is the first museum presentation within the state of Delaware of the photographic work of Celia Pearson.  Based in Annapolis, the artist has traveled as far as Italy to photograph unique sea glass collections.  Spanning from still life to abstract studies, the exhibition is presented in forms that vary from framed prints to her more recent fiber installations. Pearson’s work has been published and exhibited widely. Refreshments will be provided.

Award Winners XII: Digital Photography Workshop
Dates: Saturday, September 8 and Saturday, September 15
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Please bring lunch)

Materials: Participants are required to bring a digital SLR camera, flash card or thumb drive
Enrollment limit: 12
Description: Today’s digital cameras offer endless creative opportunities-if you know how to use them to their full advantage. This two-day workshop will empower you to take control of your camera’s features and advance your skills. Professional photographer William Bretzger will provide participants with the knowledge essential to explore all the capabilities of the digital SLR through the variables of aperture, shutter speed, and the various settings and shooting modes. Participants will also learn how to incorporate these tools with different lenses, and explore techniques of composition and lighting in order to create more interesting images. There will be a combination of lectures, discussions, assignments and critiques. By the workshop’s end, participants will have acquired an understanding of their camera and a collection of images that reflect their new expertise.

Event: Mini-Masters: Sea Glass
Date: Wednesday, September 19
Time: 10 – 11 a.m.
Price: Free, Children Ages 3-5
Description: Participants will be lead through the Sea Glass exhibition to learn the importance of the color, shape and type of glass. Each child will then create a beautiful sea glass mosaic to take home.

Event: Unlocking the Secrets of Sea Glass
Date: Saturday, September 22
Time:11 a.m.
Cost: FREE
World renowned sea glass expert and author of "Pure Sea Glass," an international award winning non-fiction publication, Richard LaMotte, will be coming to the Biggs Museum Saturday, September 22. LaMotte, president of the North American Sea Glass Association will begin his lecture at 11 a.m. Topics such as locating sea glass, the formation of sea glass and an overview of sea glass coloring will be covered. The lecture, Unlocking the Secrets of Sea Glass, will be held in conjunction with Celia Pearson's Glass Transformed exhibition. Maximum enrollment: 12
Materials: List supplied at time of registration
Description: Instructor Nicholas Serratore, member of the Pastel Society of America, will focus on the three grades of pastels, hard, medium and soft. Participants will learn how to gradually build layers of pastels and blend colors during this workshop. Please bring photos of landscapes to work from.
