Free Three

About the Free Three

The Biggs Museum is offers three, free family-friendly monthly programs in addition to presenting a collection of fine and decorative art to the public year-round and free of charge. As free programs, The Free Three serves all youth within the Biggs Kids and Mini-Master’s age groups and of all ages at the First Friday program regardless of socio-economic or ethnic background. The Free Three offers children and families another approach to experience education and art in a safe, positive and creative atmosphere.

First Friday
On the first Friday of every month, the Biggs Museum, along with several other members of the Dover arts community, serves as one of the venues for downtown Dover’s First Friday program. First Friday brings the public downtown on the first Friday of every month to enjoy local art venues and activities. The Biggs Museum provides a free, family-friendly program each month. First Friday programs include First Look Party!’s, lectures, curator-led tours, interactive activities, and live performances.

Biggs Kids
Biggs Kids is a free educational program for children ages 5-10 held on the first Saturday of every month. Biggs Kids offers innovative programming that inspires creativity, strengthens the desire to learn and increases self-esteem. A new and different activity is scheduled each month in conjunction with the Museum’s Permanent Collection or the current Temporary Exhibition. Various forms of art are explored through this program including painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, wood carving, creative writing, poetry, singing and dancing.

Biggs Kids is open to the public and is held in the Programs Gallery from 2 to 3 p.m. Pre-registration is required each month and can be completed on-line or by telephone. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants per program and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Biggs Kids is supported by the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation, Wilmington Trust and the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. Mini-Masters
Mini-Masters is a free program for children ages 3-5 typically held on the third Wednesday of every month. Mini-Masters offers art educational programming similar to the Biggs Kids program, giving parents with preschool children a chance to explore art and the museum. Age-appropriate activities are designed to stretch the imagination, foster an interest in art, and introduce children to the Museum in fun and engaging ways. The program is open to the public and is held in the program gallery from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult to the program. Pre-registration is required each month and can be completed on-line and by telephone. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants per program and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn

Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn
Everyone is invited to the Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn program! This FREE family friendly event will present five classic summer films outdoors on the lawn in front of the Museum. All ages are invited to bring their lawn chairs and picnic dinner to enjoy a free movie under the stars. The Museum is also lining up five short films by local movie makers to preview before each Summer Movie. All movies will start at 8:30 p.m.

The Museum is currently seeking sponsors to cover the costs of Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn. Funding will aid the Museum in acquiring licensing fees and renting the necessary audio equipment.
