This clock is a fine example of the decorative details and construction techniques of the Janviers’ Rococo style in Delaware. These include scalloped carving within the waist door and base panel. Thomas Janvier, nephew of John Janvier (1749–1801), recorded designs for a similar tall clock and other furniture forms in his account book for the years 1794 to 1796, which is currently in the collection of the Delaware State Archives.
