Event: Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn: Shrek

Description: Enjoy a free showing of Shrek on the front lawn at the Biggs Museum. Shrek is a 2001 American animated comedy film directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson and starring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. Based on William Steig's 1990 fairy tale picture book "Shrek!," the film was produced by DreamWorks Animation. Shrek was the first film to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2001. The film stars Mike Myers as a large, strong, solitude-loving, intimidating Scottish ogre named Shrek, from a German and Yiddish word meaning "fear" or "terror."

Event: First Friday: History of Costume at the Biggs Museum

Description: Take our new self-guided History of Costume tour through the museum’s permanent galleries. Staff will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be provided.

Event: Decoupage with Ann Gravatt
Date: Saturday, August 7 and Saturday, August 14
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Price: $25 Members/$30 Not-Yet Members (fee for both classes)
Description: Decoupage is actually quite simple. If you can cut and paste, you already know most of the techniques involved. During this workshop we will decorate a glass plate in beautiful summer colors and patterns. All supplies provided.

Event: Biggs Kids: Sandwich Box Monsters

Description: Using a cardboard box that once held sandwich bags, children will create their own monster to hold their treasures.

Description: Enjoy a free showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark on the front lawn at the Biggs Museum. Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by George Lucas, and starring Harrison Ford. It is the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise, and pits Indiana Jones (played by Ford) against the Nazis, who search for the Ark of the Covenant, in an attempt to make their army invincible.

Event: Biggs Summer Movies on the Lawn: E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
Date: Tuesday, August 17
Time: Movie begins at 8:30 p.m.
Price: Free, All Ages
Description: Enjoy a free showing of E.T. on the front lawn at the Biggs Museum. E.T. is a 1982 American science fiction film co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore, and Dee Wallace. It tells the story of Elliott (played by Thomas), a lonely boy who befriends a friendly extraterrestrial, dubbed "E.T.," who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help the extraterrestrial return home while attempting to keep it hidden from their mother and the government.

Event: Mini-Masters: Nature Collage
Date: Wednesday, August 18
Time: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Price: Free, Children Ages 3-5
Description: Children will create a collage using objects collected from outdoors like leaves, flowers, grass and twigs.
