Competition Exhibition Application Juror Selected Winners

Competition

The Biggs Museum of American Art presents Biggs Picture, the second juried landscape competition and exhibition featuring the work of professional and emerging artists, working and/or living in the Mid-Atlantic region. This juried exhibition will include art works from media including painting, video, drawing, sculpture, photography, and craft. Competition winners are those applicants who most successfully interpret the theme of “Landscape” with the finest examples of their media. Works should fit within at least one of these sub-themes:

Landscapes of the Mind: Interpreting psychological states of being through creations of space, such as abstraction, installation art and landscape representations with expressionistic and often non-representational compositions.

Constructed Landscapes: Interpretations of spaces from the past, memory, make-believe, and/or the future, such as studio production and interpretations of spaces from past, memory, imagination and for the future.

Perceived Landscape: Interpretations of actual spaces at particular times, such as plein air and landscape representations of actual spaces at particular times.
