Bancroft Woodcock, a silversmith, is considered the most famous of all Delaware colonial craftspeople. Born in Wilmington, where he also later worked largely in the Philadelphia Rococo style, he trained many of the luminaries of next generation of Delaware and Philadelphia silversmiths during his 40-year career. Among those influenced were Thomas Byrnes (1766–1798), William Poole (1764–1829), and Richard Humphreys (1749/50–1832).
